While I already poured my heart out in a piece for night one, this was a pretty unique experience in its own right, being my first time seeing any artist twice in a row on back-to-back nights. The second show was announced shortly after ticket sales for the first, and while I was not initially planning to go for both, I noticed ticket prices for night two were dropping significantly in the weeks leading up to the show. So I locked in on night two — if Vancouver's not going to show up, I will.
While the show did sell out, it was clear to me the crowd was more subdued than the first night, but that didn't stop The Weeknd. He still looks happier than ever out there.
The setlist and production were identical to night one, which I totally expected. It would take a lot of effort, as far as rehearsals go, to change up the setlist. Better to stick with what works. I just hope the fans in Montreal get to hear "Montreal" next week.
I was seated on the floor for both shows, but here on night two The Weeknd actually told security to lay off and let the fans go up to the barricade. Security gave in and it was a quick burst of madness as fans rushed up to the front. I got caught in the middle of that, but was only one row back from the barricade, where he was in the vicinity for "Cry For Me", "Lost in the Fire", and "Blinding Lights". I kinda preferred how I had a bit more personal space on night one, but I'll take having two different experiences here — it makes each night more memorable that way.
So, what remains to be seen? I imagine there will be another European leg of the tour. Maybe another Europe trip will be in order. Either way, two unforgettable nights here in Vancouver!
